In case you’ve been around my blog for some time now, you might have noticed my passion for food markets and street food. I love the atmosphere of busy markets presenting different backgrounds and cultures through food.
This is why I was very excited to discover "Street Feast", an open air night-market, situated at Dalston Yard in the heart of East London.
Selling everything from steamed buns to tacos, the market perfectly reflects the diversity of its neighborhood. With communal seating areas, bars and even log-fire baskets to sit around, it’s a great place to spend a relaxed evening with friends, share food and meet new people.
September in London also equals London Fashion Week. I had such a great time walking around Somerset House, taking streetstyle shots for my latest article and getting inspired by all of the amazing designers showing their spring collections. I think it's great how more and more brands nowadays decide to live-stream their shows, giving everybody the chance to feel "front row".
While I followed all of the shows at London Fashion Week online, I did get the chance to go to the Nicholas Oakwell Couture show as part of London Fashion Weekend. Taking place a few days after the official Fashion Week, London Fashion Weekend is a great way for people from outside the industry to experience fashion shows, exclusive designer shopping and industry talks. Needless to say the show was a dream come true! From the stunning gowns, coats and jumpsuits, to the choice of music - everything came together beautifully.
In case you missed the show, you can still take a look at the designer's new flagship store on Brook Street in Mayfair and start dreaming...
Although I didn't have any food at Aqua Shard, I simply had to mention it anyway. Celebrating my friend's birthday in the restaurant's bar area located on top of the Shard, we were offered the most breathtaking view over London. The cocktails are rather expensive as one would expect, but still well worth it, considering the bar doesn’t charge an entrance fee.
For everyone searching for a truly magical London experience - Aqua Shard is the place to go!
I'm always on the lookout for new, innovative ideas in fashion. This month in particular, I was happy to discover new ways of making high-fashion accessible to a broader audience. Apart from big organizations like the British Fashion Council, which started supporting public events such as the LFW Talks Digital, smaller businesses are also working on revolutionizing some of the industry's conventions. One business forming part of this group of visionaries is "The House of Dernier Cri", which has created a platform where up-and-coming design talents can showcase their work.
By letting the customer decide, which designers get to sell and present their work in HODC's online store, the company aims to create an "interactive retail experience". The competition takes place both online (on www.hodc.co.uk) and offline at fashion shows called "Walkoffs". The good news: anyone can attend them! In consequence I decided to give this Project Runway - like experience a try myself and headed to their show-space, located just off Brick Lane in Shoreditch.
In my opinion HODC's concept proved to be a clear success. Not only did the Walkoff offer the opportunity to experience a variety of new design aesthetics, but it also enabled the audience to interact with the designers and provide them with direct feedback. Looking back it was probably the most "real" and inspiring out of all of my Fashion Week experiences.

I am also happy to announce that New Look has published an interview featuring me at London Fashion Week.
As you can see a lot has happened in the month of September. I can't believe it has already been six weeks since I packed my bags and moved to London. Time flies, especially when you are discovering new places and meeting new people. Although I enjoyed the last eventful year of traveling and interning, I am now looking forward to starting Uni soon. To end with the words of the ever so fabulous Karl Lagerfeld...
"There is one thing I love on earth: to learn."
