Living in London has its perks. In my first three weeks away from home I have been inspired by the wealth of culture and art in the city, met lots of new people and discovered London's great culinary scene. What I find most exciting about London, however, is its status as one of the world’s most well-known fashion capitals, home to many influential pioneers of designers and fashion visionaries, at the forefront of global contemporary fashion.
What better way to celebrate this special industry and gather all of the creative, forward-thinking people that keep it alive than London Fashion Week? A week of events where designers, buyers, media and many other industry personnel can meet and showcase new talent is available to a fortunate few in London, and it's growing reputation is matched only by its exclusivity. While many of the London Fashion Week shows, especially of acclaimed designers, become more elitist by the season, another type of "runway" has emerged. Many fashion-enthusiasts have found a way to participate in this special week and created a new kind of platform to present their personal style. Celebrating not only the designers' new collections, but also the personal style of the individual has made Fashion Week an attractive and interactive event, where anybody can take part.
This is why I decided to dedicate this article to the people seen off the runways at Fashion Week. Showing some of my personal street style favorites seen around Somerset House; I present to you the fearless, unofficial stars of this Fashion Week, hoping they will be a great source of inspiration, as well as entertainment.
