As an unfortunate side effect of moving house I have recently been forced to live without my well loved high speed internet - goodbye four hour netflix marathons and youtube daily vlogs (the ones by Casey Neistat , in particular). I hadn't realised how attached I had become to my daily dose of visual content but was determined to embrace this period of withdrawal. As in times of crisis one remembers the value of the basic things in life, I decided to replace the time I used to spend online with some of the things I had lost touch with offline. The truth is that nothing really compares to the simplicity of a good book, a conversation with a close friend or time spent outside in nature. I am convinced that this also applies to our sense of style. Wearing trendy and bold pieces can be an exciting and fun experience, however, we always tend to go back to our favourite pair of jeans and trainers. Therefore it is not surprising that basics are, in fact, upon the best selling product categories in fashion. Nevertheless, I'm always up for adding that special twist to my basics, small details which make an outfit just a bit more interesting and unique. For instance through experimenting with unconventional fabrics such as neoprenes and new fits such as cropped girlfriend style jeans.
